In 2024, I photographed Coco Rocha at the 30th amfAR Gala Cannes at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. The series centered on her Phoenix look by YANINA Couture, with sculptural gold feathers and wing-like forms evoking the Palme d’Or itself.
The amfAR Gala supports AIDS research and the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS, carrying forward a legacy of advocacy closely associated with Elizabeth Taylor and her support for people affected by the disease.

As the week ramped up, so did Rocha’s outfits. Her next look, for the amfAR Cannes Gala, resembled the Palme d’Or itself. Glimmering gold panels sprawled like leaves over her sheer nude gown, while a gold cape made of feathers hugged her figure and added to the ethereal ensemble. The supermodel wore her dark hair slicked back with a headband, looking like she had emerged from some divine source, as in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus.
